Details
Free-revving, long-legged performance has always been a hallmark of Citroen CX behaviour, the earlier models being relaxed and reassuring at high speed although they had to be rowed along quite energetically to get them up to speed in the first place. The advent of the CX25 GTi turbo changes all this, endowing this capacious four door saloon with a top speed in the region of 135 mph and 0-60 mph taking around 9 sec.
The 93 x 92 mm, 2,500 cc four-cylinder engine is equipped with a Garrett T3 turbocharger which boosts its output to a very respectable 168 bhp at 5,000 rpm, and the incorporation of new integrated electronic ignition has helped contribute to significantly improved torque figures of 217 lb/ft at 3,250 rpm which makes the car more flexible, less frantic and altogether a more relaxed proposition in traffic. In 1986 the car was restyled, being given plastic bumper shields in place of the previous slim-line metal blades, and the car presented here is one of these later ‘MkII’ cars.

As mentioned above this particular example also has the optional air conditioning and the very rare on-board computer only offered for the 1986 and 1987 model years. There is also available a set of very rare 16" Speedline wheels with brand new Michelin tyres if the next owner prefers to use the car with modern rubber rather than the original metric wheel/tyre combination - both options are shown in the images.
The car has covered an indicated 68k miles and originally came from France and is now UK registered. It has recently had a major service completed and drives well. The car has original paint which is a little tired and sadly as the car came from a deceased estate the paperwork has been lost to time. With a little effort the car will be a lovely example with a low mileage that drives very well.
