The replacement for the SC series came in 1984 as the 911 3.2 Carrera, reviving the Carrera name for the first time since 1977. This was the last iteration in the original 911 series, with all subsequent models featuring new body styling and new brake, electronic, and suspension technologies. In 1984, Porsche also introduced the M491 option. Officially called the Supersport in the UK, it was commonly known as the "Turbo-Look". It was a style that resembled the 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray" tail. It featured the stiffer suspension shared with the Turbo and the superior Turbo braking system as well as the wider Turbo wheels.. A new higher-displacement engine, a 3.2-litre horizontally opposed flat 6-cylinder unit, was utilized. At the time Porsche claimed it was 80% new. The new swept volume of 3,164 cc was achieved using the 95 mm bore (from the previous SC model) combined with the 1978 Turbo 3.3 crankshaft's 74.4 mm stroke. In addition, higher domed pistons increased the compression ratio from 9.8 to 10.3:1. New inlet manifold and exhaust systems were fitted. In 1987, the Carrera got a new five-speed gearbox sourced from Getrag, model number G50 with proven BorgWarner synchronizers.

It has been enhanced for on-track use while remaining road-legal. It is one of only 66 Super Sport 911s are believed to have been supplied to the UK in 1989 – the final year of Carrera 3.2 production. In 2009/10 it was stripped out and fitted with the roll cage, bucket seats etc listed above to create a track-focussed example, along with a highly distinctive colour scheme. It also received an engine and gearbox rebuild as well as full suspension refresh and body restoration - all at a cost of around £45k.
As a Super Sport Equipment model (option 491), the car originally combined the naturally aspirated flat-six engine with the 930 Turbo’s wide body, stiffer suspension and uprated brakes. It left the factory finished in Guards Red paintwork with a black leather interior and has since been repainted in Purple metallic with the front and rear bumpers being replaced with light weight options. The original dashboard remains, but the seats have been replaced with Cobra Suzuka Pro bucket seats with blue TRS race harnesses and now a roll-cage is fitted the rear seats have been removed. It has also been fitted with the requisite track day modifications including a battery kill switch and a fire extinguisher with a fully piped dousing system; however it still retains its original dials, heating and ventilation controls, electric windows and also an updated audio head unit.

It has covered 74k miles and the service history of the car is a combination of Porsche dealers and leading specialists up to 2019. The last service was carried out by Porsche Leeds in June 2024 at 74,392 miles where the car had new spark plugs, oil/filter, transmission oil change and a brake fluid change.
